Peas Radish Shrimp fry/ Mullangi Pattani Eral varuval

>> Sunday, June 27, 2010

This is a simple side dish I made for yesterday's dinner. The combo of radish with peas and shrimp worked out really well. I just tried to add peas to my usually mullangi eral recipe, that turned out to be good with additional flavor and mild crunch from peas.

The dish is very simple and is a handy recipe when we are out of any side dish for chapati or rice.
Things needed
Radish - 1 Cup ( Peeled and chopped)
Green Peas - 1 Cup (I used frozen peas)
Onion - 1 no. small sized ( Chopped)
Jeera/ Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Dry red chilly - 2 nos.
Shrimp/ Prawns - 15 nos. medium sized ( Peeled and Cleaned)
Tumeric powder - 1 tsp
Black Pepper powder - 1 tbsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tbsp
Salt - To taste
Oil - 1 tsp
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, red chilly, tumeric powder and onions. Cook until the onions turn pink. Then add the radish, salt and pepper powder to the pan and cook it covered for 10 minutes.
When the radish is almost cooked, add the green peas and shrimp. At this point adjust for salt and pepper.
Cook covered for another 10 minutes and your Peas radish shrimp fry is ready to be served hot with chapathi or rice. It goes great with sambar or rasam rice.
