Fish bhajji/ Fried fish

>> Saturday, August 7, 2010

This is my first fish recipe. Its a simple and delicious crispy fried fish that makes a great combo with sambar, rasam or curd rice. It also serves as a good starter by itself just with ketchup. I have used white pomfret fish which is commonly know as Vavval meenu in Tamil. This recipe can be used with any kind of fish and requires a  marination time of just 15 minutes.
Things needed
Fish - 5 slices ( Have used white pomfret)
Chilly powder - 1 Tbsp
Tumeric powder - 1Tsp
Coriander - cumin powder - 1 Tbsp
Soy sauce - 1/2 Tsp
Rice flour - 1/2 Tbsp
Besan flour/ Kadalai maavu/ Bengal gram flour - 1/2 Tbsp
Tamarind pulp -1 Tbsp
Salt - To taste
Curry leaf powder - 1 Tsp
Ginger - garlic paste - 1 Tsp
Oil - For deep frying
Wash and clean the fish slice. Mix all the above ingredients with tamarind pulp and marinate the fish slice in the mixture for about 15 minutes. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish slices into golden brown pieces and serve hot with ketchup or as side with rice.
This recipe goes to Iftar moments hijri 1431 event by Ayeesha.
