Ribbon Pakoda

>> Friday, December 24, 2010

It has been raining here for the past few days... My mind was thinking about something to munch.. Crunchy and spicy.. Then came the idea of ribbon pakodas that are very simple to make and taste really great. Its a very easy snack to make at home in just few minutes. But the only requirement is to have the mould to get the desired ribbon shape for the snack as its name suggests.

Things needed
Gram flour/Kadalai maavu - 1 Cup
Rice flour/Pachai arisi maavu - 2 Tbsp
Hot oil/ Butter - 1 Tbsp
Salt - to taste
Red chilly powder - 1 Tsp
Red chilly flakes - 1/4 Tsp (Optional)
Cumin seeds/Jeera - 1/4 Tsp
Carmon seeds/ Ajwani/Omam - 1/4 Tsp ( Optional)
Tumeric - a pinch
Water - to make a smooth, sticky dough ( Roughly i needed about 1/4 Cup of water)

Mix in all the above ingredients to make a smooth dough with no lumps. This dough will be sticky. Divide the dough into small portions and place it in the mould. Press the pakodas directly into hot oil and fry until crispy golden brown.
Crunchy ribbon pakodas are ready to be enjoyed. This goes to MLLA - 30 event by Susan guest hosted by Priya
