Sesame Brittle

>> Tuesday, January 4, 2011

This is a very simple and yummy sweet that can be made in few minutes and will be great for munching. There is a slight difference between sesame laddu and brittle. Laddu is made by using a soft jaggery syrup whereas these brittle are made by using a thicker jaggery syrup, resulting in a crispy and crunchy brittle.
Things needed
Sesame seeds - 1/4 Cup ( Dry roasted until golden brown)
Jaggery - 1/4 Cup ( Grated)
Cardamon powder - 1/4 Tsp
Ginger powder/ Sukku  powder - 1/4 Tsp ( Optional)
Water - 1 Tbsp

Melt jaggery with water in a pan and let it boil to form a one string consistency syrup(kambi patham). Now add sesame seeds, cardamon, ginger powder and cook the mixture for couple of minutes. Grease a plate with  ghee and spread the sesame mixture into a thin sheet. Let it cool for 30 minutes and break it into desired sizes. Yummy brittle are ready to be enjoyed.
